Lift was an experiment of close-up videography and colour-grading in not-so-great lighting conditions. The entire (very short) film was shot entirely in a very small lift, with limited space and a room only lit with a single fluorescent tube. Creating the film was a challenge to help me create an efficient way to work, being fast working in a “moving” enviroment.

It’s also important to note that the sound hasn’t been changed – it’s just the raw sound from the camera footage put together in premiere and colour-graded, this video is completely focused on the video rather than sound.

The lighting was also a big challenge, but massively added to the overall look of the piece – especially on the full face shots.

The whole short film was a lot of fun to make, Rob was a brilliant help and Dave did a good job at keeping the door open. It allowed me to understand what sort of tasks I’d be up against when creating the final piece.

The camera used was a Canon 600D with a 18-55mm lens.

It started raining here in sunny Warrington so I decided to head out for a short time to get some filming done. I wasn’t really aiming for anything in particular, just a bit of sound recording and maybe some stock footage.

I’m pleased how it turned out.

My main hard drive also decided to topple over and die on me, meaning that I’m unable to do any work until his next of kin arrives on Thursday and all the software is installed.

A new monitor has been purchased – a 23″ AOC LED monitor. It’s bigger than my last one, and is so much thinner and brighter. It has richer colour and I can’t wait to take it for a test drive. The hard drive will be here on Thursday and everything should be installed by Friday.

Soon the Action Box will be completed once again.

This was a concept of a film title I came up with. I swear it looked a lot better in my head.

This was a bitch to keyframe in After Effects, but I’m fairly pleased with how it looks, even if it’s just a test.
